A few months back I shared how I made this fun oversized clock that I made out of fence slates. It was my first attempt at making a clock and I really had no idea what I was doing as far as the actual mechanism. That's why, you might remember, the face of my clock sat sans hands for weeks as I researched the best movement and extra long hands.
Waiting...waiting...waiting for the right hands |
I followed the instructions and easily set my clock. But 'would it keep accurate time' was always the question. I was thrilled when my DIY wood clock became not only a statement piece, but also a working and accurate time piece on my mantel. Once I got it working I didn't dare touch the clock for fear I would unbalance the hands or something and screw it up.
Of course, Saturday night we turned the clocks back for Daylight Saving Time. I contemplated leaving it an hour ahead until we 'spring ahead,' but decided that defeated the purpose of my working clock. So today, I nervously approached my clock and moved the hands an hour back. I am not kidding when I tell you I leaned in with an ear to make sure it was still ticking. No harm, no foul...my clock is still ticking and keeping accurate time.
And now it's time for me to share some even more awesome news with you - Klockit is offering my readers an awesome deal throughout November. If you make your own clock - or maybe just need a new movement or hands for an old clock repair - Klockit is offering 15% on your entire order using 6B540 through this link.
Now, I'm contemplating making another clock...after all this one was supposed to be an outdoor clock, but I loved it so much I wanted it somewhere I would see it all the time. Sorry...I couldn't resist.
If you're just not that into making your own clock, KlockIt also offers a huge selection of atomic watches for him and her. What a perfect excuse to start your holiday shopping now and start saving!
Thanks for stopping by 2IY! If you like what you see, we'd love for you to pin it!
