Door Mat Wall Art {Pottery Barn Knockoff}
A few weeks ago I shared this tutorial as a guest blogger over on Free Cheap or Fun blog. Today I'm re-sharing this Pottery Barn knockoff here for all of my readers to enjoy.
I love PB's classic and timeline style and decor, but the prices are a huge turn off for me. I can't justify spending $399 on a lattice wood panel to hang on my wall when I could be buying two week's worth of groceries for my family for that price. I do love Pottery Barn's new Lattice Panel Wall Art though and so I figured out a way to knockoff it off for less than $20.

Door Mat Wall Art: Pottery Barn Knockoff
My Pottery Barn knockoffs are starting to take on a life of their own here at Two It Yourself. This week I felt like maybe I should spread the love - so I did a guest blog post over at the amazing Fun Cheap or Free!
Do not judge - I totally hung a rubber door mat on the wall and called it a Pottery Barn knockoff. I think that qualifies as fun and cheap...and almost free! Oh, and the best part, my husband has yet to realize it's a door mat's adorning our foyer.
Head on over to FCF to check out my tips and tricks on what is now one of my favorite Pottery Barn knockoffs.
While you're there, poke around a bit. I know you'll find some awesome stuff 'where frugal gets a facelift.'
Thanks for stopping by 2IY! If you like what you see, we'd love for you to pin it!

Pottery Barn Knockoff Happy Easter Burlap Flag
In case you haven't noticed I might be a little obsessed with Pottery Barn. Aside from a rare splurge, however, I pretty much stick to clearance items...oh, and items I can knockoff. Like say...this Happy Easter flag. I saved myself a cool $39 bucks here and it only took me an hour or so to make this large flag.

Pottery Barn Knockoff Chalkboard Frames
I was perusing the Pottery Barn Kids catalog last week when I spotted their adorable chalkboard frames. Oh they're just so cute..and so expensive at $39 for just one! I knew I could knock them off very easily and they'd be perfect in the playroom to display the kids artwork.

American Girl Valentine's Day Giveaway Event
I have some really exciting news that I am so excited to share. I'm participating in a great big Valentine's Day American Girl Giveaway. One lucky girl is going to win a huge custom made Valentine's Day wardrobe plus an American Girl doll of her choice. The Valentine's event is being hosted by Diana Rambles with dozens of bloggers - including yours truly - donating items.
I made a set of matching girl/doll Valentine's Day envelope purses...and can I tell you how difficult it was for me to keep these away from my daughter and her doll? Apparently, I'll be making another set...
The purses were inspired by Pottery Barn Kids' adorable chair backers.
Other bloggers have donated beautifully handmade dresses, outfits, hair accessories, bags, shoes and more. Here's a look at some the items that the winner will receive in the prize package now valued at over $500!
The Valentines Day American Girl Giveaway Event begins in just four days on Wednesday, January 22 and runs through Feb 2, 2014.

DIY Pottery Barn 'Heart' Pillow Knockoff
Do I love Pottery Barn? Yes. Do I love an awesome Pottery Barn knockoff? H*ll yeah! And so I present to you...my PB-inspired burlap heart pillow. The original version is not burlap and it's not square...but guess what...that's what makes it awesome to DIY, you can make it EXACTLY how you want it.
So if you have a 16x16 pillow form at home, you can make a 16x16 envelope-style pillow cover and then you don't have to buy a lumbar pillow form because Pottery Barn's heart cover only comes in the 12x24 lumbar size.

Pottery Barn Table Setting Knockoff from the Dollar Store
Isn't it lovely? I love Pottery Barn's table settings. They're often simple yet stunning and timeless. What I can't swallow is paying $12.50 for a charger. Not a plate...a plate that holds a plate. Note "a". That means if you want to set the table for six you'd be spending $75 on plates you don't even eat off. Let's not talk about if you're setting the table for 12 or more...
That, my friends, is why I love the dollar store. Right before Christmas I went in looking for some gold chargers for my Christmas table. I found them for one dollar a piece. Guess what...they even have the beaded edge, just like Pottery Barn's. I picked up six...you know, for $6.

8 DIY Drop Cloth Projects
I just got paid the biggest compliment. A Two It Yourself reader left a comment on my Pottery Barn-inspired DIY Monogrammed Wine Bags saying she thought my version was actually the Pottery Barn bag. Wow! Amazing...and to think I made my wine bags with a....drop cloth.

DIY Monogrammed Wine Bottle Bag (Pottery Barn-Inspired)
I think I like wine accessories more than I actually like wine. Take for example, Pottery Barn's textured linen wine bags = LOVE! I loved them so much I knocked them off....cause, you know, I love Pottery Barn...oh and they're no longer available so I basically had no choice, but to DIY.
The PB version (on the right above) has a linen look so I used my go-to linen impersonator: drop cloth.

Lamp Makeover with DIY Fabric Covered Lamp Shade
I shared this lamp and lamp shade makeover project a few months ago as a guest post on Craft Dictator, and now thought I'd share it with all of you, as well.
I can never wrap my head around just how expensive lamps are - especially glass lamps. I love the look, but not the price.
Lucky for me I spotted this ol' girl at the thrift store for $9.99 and I immediately snagged her before anyone else could. This was one of those pieces that I kinda stood there and thought: "How could someone actually throw that away?" I mean...oh, the potential!
She looks like something similar I've seen at Pottery Barn for 10 times the cost. Okay, well maybe with all the dust and brass she doesn't, but that's nothing a little glass cleaner and spray paint can't fix.
As soon as I got home I started working on giving a new life to this light.

20 DIY Burlap Ideas: For the love of all things burlap!
I may be slightly obsessed with burlap for the moment month season year....but I promise you there is a good reason why. Burlap, while it can be a real mess to work with, is one of the most versatile mediums (did I really just write 'mediums'?? Just trying to up my game from my usual 'things') I use to create. I have made everything from toilet paper napkin rings to wreaths and pillows with burlap.
Since I love it so much I thought I would share my love of all things burlap today with a great big roundup of some really cool DIY burlap crafts and projects we've featured right here on 2IY...so here goes. You can click each photo to be taken directly to the tutorial.

10 Christmas Front Porch Ideas {On The Cheap}
In case you haven't picked up on it yet from all my recent posts, I have been slightly obsessing over my Christmas front porch decorations. We typically decorate with icicle lights and a pretty wreath, but this year I really wanted something more Pottery Barn front porch-ish - ya know with lots of textures, layers, and personality...something really welcoming and inviting. Of course, I didn't want the PB prices so I've been slowly working on creating a budget-friendly Christmas front porch and I think I've finally got it!
I spent less than $60 to create this entire front porch and all I started with was the wreath - which I made-over this year. I've said it before and I'll say it again: To keep your decorating budget down, shop your house before the store!

DIY Large Christmas Sign {Pottery Barn 'Peace' sign Knockoff}
If you've been following Two It Yourself regularly you know I love a good knockoff - especially when it's a Pottery Barn one and especially when it saves me oh...$129! I kid you not, this 54" Pottery Barn Peace Sign - as gorgeously hand painted as it is - is triple digits. Well, guess what my friends....I just made a DIY large Christmas sign for FREE! (Even if you don't have any supplies you can make this for just a few bucks...for the paint and stain.) I may be bias, but I think my DIY version is equally as charming.
As much as I love me some PB, I decided to use the sign as inspiration, but not completely knock it off. Instead of PEACE I went with BE MERRY and I have a different finish. That's what's great about this large wood Christmas sign - it's completely customizable.

DIY Burlap Christmas Pillows
So me and burlap are like BFFs right about now. We've been spending some major time together...most recently I created these cute burlap Christmas pillows. They were super easy and fast to make and they're great for both indoors or outdoors.
Of course, I turned to my trusty Powerpoint to create the design. There are tons of free Christmas fonts out there on the good ol' WWW... so find your favorite, download it and install it into your font book...then get to work.
I started with the 'Jingle' pillow inspired by Pottery Barn's jingle bell pillow. When you're creating your design, leave a little space around the outside so you can sew it onto the pillow without stitching on the design.
When my design was ready to go, I printed it right on a piece of burlap. If you're a loyal 2IY reader (you aren't? You totally should be!!!) you know the drill by now about how to print on burlap. If not, it's cool I forgive you just go >> here << and learn how to print on burlap using your home printer.

I Spy DIY: 7 Master Bedroom Ideas
Last week on the blog I showed off my newly refinished/repainted nightstand and got some great feedback from readers on it. One of the biggest compliments was from a reader who asked if the headboard in the photo was purchased or made. I'll give you one guess...
That got me looking at the photo, which at first glance doesn't look like much other than the nightstand. But actually when I look closer I realize just how muchblood, sweat and tears love I have poured into our master bedroom since I started transforming it in the spring. In just this one photo I spy FIVE DIY projects that I have featured on the blog...can you see them?
Okay, okay I'll give you a few hints (and all the links to the tutorials)...
Let's start with the nightstand because it's the most obvious. It was painted two-tone to match the walls and trim and new hardware was added.

DIY Kitchen art on a budget
I have a huge wall in my kitchen that for nearly two years was just screaming that it was naked. I tried to save the poor thing by picking up these Pottery Barn-inspired over-sized fork and spoon from Target, but even they were lost on the wall. They were both on sale so I got the set for about $35.
Since they look ridiculous like this....I took it one step forward and in a two-for-one move added EAT on three large canvases It's basically a direct message to my kids...EAT! (I may soon sub it out for SHH...but I digress.)
I already had the canvases on hand. But how to get the letters on there neatly would be the biggest challenge. I experimented a little bit with getting the letters on the canvas until I finally figured out the perfect technique for getting straight lines.

Large DIY Wood Clock from Fence Posts or Pallet Wood
I am so excited to finally be able to share my DIY clock with you all. I have been working on the clock for the better part of the month - not that it took that long to make - it really didn't take long at all. I was trying to find cheap DIY clock parts and that was a bit of a struggle. The whole point of me making a large wooden clock myself was to keep costs down, but DIY clock kits combined with shipping can be kinda pricey. All the details on where I found the cheapest clock hands and movement in a minute, but first let's get to how I made the clock.
I started with three fence posts (or are they fence panels?) that were just sitting in the back area of my basement. Pallet wood would also work...or you can buy lumber at the hardware store, of course.
